A varietal related to Bourbon and developed by Costa Rica’s Instituto de Café (ICAFE), this Venecia varietal lot from Finca Casa de Piedra has a unique flavour profile with soft vanilla and milk chocolate being backed up by an apple-like, malic acidity. Beautifully structured and sweet it hits the spot either on filter or espresso.
Finca Casa de Piedra is one of two farms managed by Café Directo, a family enterprise established in 2013 by Gerardo and Jennifer Arias. This farm specialises in producing, processing, and promoting the finest Tarrazú coffees while prioritising environmental harmony. Café Directo aims to promote societal development through fair and ethical trade practices.
With a combined experience of over thirty years, the founders excel in cultivating specialty microlots using diverse processes, including natural, honey, anaerobic, semi-washed and fully washed. The farm's unique attributes, including its microclimate, soil composition, and elevations reaching up to 1800m provide optimal conditions for multiple coffee varietals to thrive.
