Mexican coffee export partners Red Beetle set up their quality control lab in the Sierra Sur in 2023. This is their full-time base of operations, where coffees from across the region are assessed and blended for export.
The Red Beetle team connected with their new neighbours, the small cooperative called Cerro Perico. Cerro Perico is a steep hill right next to the Red Beetle lab, reaching over 2000m altitude.
This group of producers grows some very high altitude coffee for Mexican averages; their land sits at 1700m and higher. The group grows predominantly Pluma Hidalgo, and uses fully washed processing for all their lots. We think this coffees shines both as filter or espresso due to its incredible sweetness and balanced cup profile.
