Kateshi coffee estate - one of the first coffee estates in Zambia - was established in 1972 close to Kateshi village. An award-winning producer, it has placed both 1st and 2nd in Zambia's annual Taste of Harvest competition.

Kateshi has been recognised for boldly challenging gender stereotypes in Zambia, being the first and only coffee estate to employ women for traditionally male-dominated roles such as driving tractors, bulldozers and road graders.

Local community is at the heart of the estates vision. They provide daily access to safe drinking water to more than 20.000 locals and support 3 schools that provide 1.500+ students with primary and secondary education. They also have an on-site health clinic, the only one in a 30km radius, complete with a pharmacy and delivery room. The clinic provides free healthcare to over 4.000 community member and sees an average of 95 patients a day.

For this lot, the best cherries are carefully handpicked followed by floatation to remove under-ripe cherries. They are then fermented anaerobically in sealed tanks for 24 hours before being dried on raised beds, where they are regularly turned over a period of 2 to 3 weeks.
